(Denver-CO) J.R. Smith's driving record just won't leave him alone. After having his friend die in the 2007 car accident in which Smith was the driver, he has served time in a New Jersey jail and now he will serve a seven-game suspension imposed by the NBA.

From ESPN.com, "The commissioner's office has made it clear that it wants to set the highest standard of personal conduct for its athletes," Nuggets executive Mark Warkentien said in a statement. "We will support J.R. as he continues to deal with the tragic accident he was involved with two years ago and the consequences of his painful mistake. Being that this is strictly a league decision, we will have no further comment."

The suspension will be served over the first seven regular season games of the upcoming season.
