(Denver-CO) In a few hours I'll be making my way to the Pepsi Center for my first look at the team this season. With that being said, there are a couple of key things I'll be looking for:
First off, I would really like to see James White and Joey Graham on the floor together. Not only is this the ONLY way to completely evaluate what each man brings to the team, but I don't think either player has been on the floor with the other so far this preseason. Even though they are competing for presumably the 13th spot on the roster somebody needs to step up and clearly show they (or both) are sound choices for brass to sign.
And now that I've mentioned him... I just want to see Flight's pregame routine. If he doesn't make the team in the end, at least I will have had the chance to see him do something special in warm-ups. Don't worry, Nuggets Nation, even though tonight's game isn't being televised I will have the video camera in tow for anything amazing out of Flight.
Another point of emphasis on tonight's game will concern Johan Petro. Against Minnesota's front line which is shorthanded due to Kevin Love being sidelined with a broken hand/wrist, Johan will have a chance to show what he can do for this team. The Nuggets really need Petro to play some meaningful minutes this season and there is not a better forum for him to showcase this ability than a late preseason game.
My final area of interest concerns the Birdman. Chris Andersen has had a very ho-hum preseason so far, and I would like to see a full-on Birdman block party tonight against the Timberwolves.
Go Nuggets!
