(Denver-CO) In a no-brainer, the NBA awarded Carmelo Anthony with the Western Conference Player of the Week honor for games played Tuesday Oct. 27th, through Sunday, Nov. 1st. 'Melo led the Nuggets to a 3-0 week, averaging a league-high 37.7 points per game, 53% shooting from the field, 42% from three-point land, seven rebounds, and 4.3 assists. The 3-0 start for the Nuggets is the first time they have opened a season without a loss in their first three games since the 1985-86 season.

He posted his 11th and 12th career 40-point efforts in consecutive games with 41 at Portland and 42 against Memphis. In addition, Carmelo scored 30 points against the Utah Jazz in the season opener and by doing so Anthony joins Alex English as the only players in team history to score 30 or more points in each of the first three games of a regular season.

Anthony has now garnered nine Player of the Week honors in his six-plus seasons in the NBA, building on his team record. Anthony received the award twice during his rookie season, once during the 2005-06 season for the week ending on Mar. 19, three times during the 2006-07 campaign, and twice during the 2007-08 season.

Congratulations, Carmelo. Keep up the good work!

Go Nuggets!
