Nuggets Keep Nets Winless

(Denver-CO) It wasn't pretty, but the Denver Nuggets kept the New Jersey Nets winless on the season by defeating Lawrence Frank's team, 101-87. Carmelo Anthony tied Denver legend Alex English's consecutive games with  20+ points to start a season record with his 14th game box score of 27 points, six rebounds, and four assists.

As for the Nets, well... They should be ashamed of themselves! They put forth a pitiful effort, didn't look like a very well coached team, and, for lack of better words, played undisciplined basketball for 46 of the 48 minutes in this game after jumping out to an early, 9-2, lead in the first quarter.

And I hate to say this, but if I were a betting man I would head over to Doc's Sports and get my Sportsbook Deposit Bonus and then lay my money down on the Nets losing more than 17 straight games to open up this season and thus setting a new NBA record for futility. They looked way worse than I expected them to and New Jersey travels to Portland tonight to presumably get rubbed out by the Trailblazers to lose their 15th straight game.

Noteworthy efforts by the good guys came from Arron Afflalo and Nene. Afflalo played stifling defense on Chris Douglas-Roberts holding him to just four points on 1-6 shooting in CD-R's 30 minutes of play. Arron also had his best night offensively of the season finishing with 15 points, four assists, and eight boards. Nene also gave a comprehensive effort against the Nets compiling a line that reads 17 points, nine rebounds, five steals, a block, and an assist in a team-high +22 overall.

Up next for the Nuggets after winning their 16th straight game at Pepsi Center is a quick jaunt up to Minnesota to tangle with the almost as bad Timberwolves. The Timberpups are a dismal 1-13 on the year after winning their season opener.

Go Nuggets!
