(Denver-CO) The Denver Nuggets need a winning system much like the Sport's Betting System from Doc's Sports. If they feel strongly about their chances of winning, they let you know.
As for how I feel about tonight's game with the Dubs? Expect the Nuggets to come at Golden State like a jaded ex-girlfriend at your dream wedding to your dream wife who just happens to be her best friend!
That's right! After hearing George Karl's fiery post game interview in which he called the Nuggets an "embarrassment" following the Timberwolf debacle I would be down right baffled if the Nuggets didn't play with a fundamental prudence reminiscent of the 1960's.
The good news for the Nuggets Nation is that this means we will see a lot of sharing the basketball, terrific energy defensively, and a tenacious effort. Or at least... we'd better because I don't ever want to hear George Karl say, "Tell me the five guys that I can put on the court to play hard every possession. Tell me. I had it last year. I had a play-hard team last year. I don't have a play-hard team this year and it's making me very angry", ever again.
The Nuggets are going to need a great effort defensively tonight to keep the high-scoring Warriors in check. Golden State is the second highest scoring team in the league with an average of nearly 110 points per game and they do it by committee with six players averaging double figures. However, there is no arguing about who is clearly their offensive leader. Since trading Stephen Jackson to the Bobcats, Monta Ellis has emerged as Don Nelson's go to guy. Ellis is averaging 35.2 ppg over his last five games which include two 40+ point outbursts with his most recent game being a career-high showing of 45 points.
Offensively, the Nuggets would be wise to never settle for jump shots. I know, I know, there is going to be a few taken, but the Golden State Warriors are one of if not the smallest teams in the league and lack a shot blocking presence with an injury plagued front line.
But, more than anything else the Nuggets need to show an attention to detail for a full 48 minutes. Even in games they have won against bad teams, Denver has yet to really take the reigns and hammer a team for a full 48. That's right, I want no loose ball going without a Nugget on the floor, no extra pass missed, no rotation botched, and certainly no uncontested lay-ups! It's time for this team to start playing the game with an overall maturity and fervor that we have not yet seen. The kind of maturity and fervor of a championship caliber team.
Go Nuggets!
